Frequently asked questions
I deleted photos, but my storage didn't go up. Why?
Deleted items go to Recently Deleted in the Photos app and stay there for 30 days. The space is freed only after you empty that album, and iOS doesn't let third-party apps empty it for you.
Open the Photos app → find Recently Deleted under Utilities → unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode → select the items → Delete. CleanBeam also shows step-by-step instructions for your iOS version after you delete.
Does CleanBeam upload my photos?
No. All analysis happens on your iPhone. We never upload, view, collect or store your photos, videos or thumbnails. CleanBeam has no ads and no tracking or analytics SDKs; the only data that leaves your device is what Apple and our subscription provider RevenueCat need to process purchases. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Will CleanBeam delete anything without asking?
No. Items you choose first go to CleanBeam's in-app Trash, where you can restore them. They're removed from your library only after you confirm, and iOS then asks you to confirm once more. Even then they go to Recently Deleted, not straight to permanent deletion.
Similar and blurry results are estimates — please review them before deleting, and keep your own backup of anything important.
How much can I clean for free?
The free version lets you clean up to 1 GB per day. The allowance resets at local midnight, and the home screen shows how much is left today. CleanBeam Pro removes the daily limit and adds background scanning while your iPhone is charging. Current plans and prices are shown in the app before you buy.
How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with, then tap Restore on the upgrade screen, or Restore Purchases in CleanBeam's Settings.
How do I cancel my subscription or request a refund?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the iPhone Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → CleanBeam, or tap Manage Subscription in CleanBeam's Settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid renewal. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue App Store refunds ourselves.
CleanBeam only sees some of my photos.
You probably granted Limited Access, so CleanBeam can only see the photos you selected. Tap Manage on the banner in the app to add more, or go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → CleanBeam and choose Full Access.
The "similar" or "blurry" results don't look right.
You can tune both in CleanBeam's Settings:
- Similar Photos — Conservative: only near-identical shots count as similar. Standard: shots with different angles, framing or poses are kept apart. Aggressive: photos of the same scene count as similar.
- Blur sensitivity — Conservative, Standard or Aggressive.
To keep a specific photo out of future suggestions, long-press it and choose Skip.
Scanning is slow or some photos are skipped.
Photos and videos stored only in iCloud must be downloaded before they can be analyzed or compressed, which uses data and can be slow. If you'd rather skip them, turn on Analyze Local Items Only in Settings. Scanning also uses a lot of battery — you can stop and continue later; progress is saved.
Background scanning didn't run.
Background scanning is a Pro feature that runs while your iPhone is charging. iOS decides whether and when it runs, so it isn't guaranteed. If iOS stops a scan early, your progress is saved and you can continue next time you open the app.
What happens when I compress videos or Live Photos?
Compression is lossy — a compressed file can't be restored to its original quality. Originals are kept by default, so no space is freed until you delete them.
Shrinking a Live Photo creates a still photo and deletes the original Live Photo. Once Recently Deleted is emptied, the motion part is gone for good.
How do I reset CleanBeam's data?
Go to Settings → Data → Clear Local Data. This removes analysis results, the skip list and unfinished tasks, and you'll need to scan again. It doesn't touch your photos and doesn't cancel your subscription.
